Insights into the 3rd Social Innovation session

On March 1, the RadioVal project conducted its third Social Innovation session. The aim of the session was to gather feedback from 23 participants, including 18 stakeholders from the consortium and five external experts, to discuss the progress of the project.

The main focus of the session was on the RadioVal interface platform, AI passport, and human-in-the-loop pathway. The participants discussed the possibility of embedding the feedback mechanism into the workflow of healthcare professionals, to ensure accuracy and fairness in the human-in-the-loop pathway. This pathway involves human interaction with the algorithm to guarantee transparency and accountability.

The participants also discussed the use of AI tools in treatment, emphasizing that they are meant to supplement and not replace clinicians in decision-making. The stakeholders acknowledged that AI tools often outperform healthcare professionals in several domains but emphasized that transparency and communication of the confidence in the results are essential to ensuring the tool’s success.

All agreed that the use of AI tools should be transparent, with healthcare professionals informed about the circumstances when the tool is beneficial or not. The event had external experts representing ethicists, health authorities, and patients, in addition to the 18 stakeholders from the RadioVal consortium.

The RadioVal project plans to use feedback gathered from sessions like this to further develop its tools and improve healthcare practices. These sessions are critical in ensuring that the project’s tools and practices are aligned with the needs of stakeholders and healthcare professionals.

Overall, the RadioVal project’s third Social Innovation session was a success, with 23 participants giving their valuable feedback on the project’s progress. It is encouraging to see stakeholders taking an active role in shaping the development of AI tools in healthcare. The RadioVal project is set to revolutionize healthcare practices by integrating AI tools with healthcare professionals to ensure better outcomes for patients.
