RadioVal was prominently featured at the 2025 edition of the Digital Public Health (DPH) Conference, contributing to the Best Student Abstract Award.
The winning paper, entitled “Implementation by Inclusivity in European Health System-Level Digital Solutions,” was presented by Carina Dantas, CEO of SHINE 2Europe, on the conference’s final day. Co-authored by Miriam Cabrita, Lars Münter, Paloma Moraga Alapont, and Nina Sønderberg, the paper explored learnings from several pioneering European projects. Among these, RadioVal stood out as a compelling example of how ethical, participatory design can drive greater equity in AI-powered healthcare innovation.
The authors highlighted that technical progress must go hand in hand with inclusive, system-level implementation strategies. RadioVal exemplifies this approach by embedding stakeholder co-creation, local context awareness, and principles of health equity into every stage of its development and evaluation.
“RadioVal stands out for its responsible approach to implementing AI in cancer care,” said Carina Dantas. “Its validation framework goes beyond performance indicators — it meaningfully includes the perspectives of clinicians, patients, and communities to ensure the technology serves everyone.”
In addition to RadioVal, the paper reflected on a range of complementary initiatives, including IHI READI, the SHAFE Foundation, myHealth@myHands, Nordic Health 2030, and IHLA – all united by a shared vision for more inclusive and participatory digital health ecosystems.
Hosted by the UCL Centre for Digital Public Health in Emergencies, the DPH 2025 Conference provided a dynamic platform for researchers, practitioners, and innovators in digital public health. The event fostered cross-disciplinary dialogue and collaboration — a fitting backdrop to celebrate progressive, equity-focused projects such as RadioVal.
